The territory of the province of Utcubaba includes mostly seasonally dry equatorial forests, with altitudinal ranges from 300 to 2200 meters above sea level.



The provincial territory presents a heterogeneous physiography, which is influenced by the Marañón and Utcubamba rivers, presents defined characteristics of macro-relief and microclimate.



Utcubamba is a cosmopolitan province, as its population comes from various parts of the country, its place of origin being mostly the departments of Cajamarca (Chota, Cutervo), Piura (Andean zone) and Lambayeque.



The economy of the province of Utcubamba is based on agricultural production, especially rice, corn, coffee and cocoa, as the main products.



Another activity that generates income for the Province of Utcubamba is goat farming.



It should be noted that this agricultural activity occupies approximately 80% of the provincial GDP.



Trade is active with the cities of Chiclayo, Jaén, and with the neighboring department of San Martín. It has minor industries, milling and rice milling, and carbonated water bottling companies.



The province of Utcubamba is located in the central zone of the department of Amazonas; between coordinates 5º33´ and 6º56´ South Latitude and 77º14´ and 78º41´ West Longitude. Its capital is the city of Bagua Grande and it is located on the banks of the Utcubamba River between the coordinates 05 ° 46´40´´ of South Latitude and 78 ° 25´46´´ of West Longitude; at an altitude of 440 meters above sea level.



Limits to the North: Bagua and Condorcanqui Provinces (Amazonas)

To the South: Luya Province (Amazonas)

To the East: Provinces of Bongará and Luya (Amazonas)

To the West: Department of Cajamarca.





Like Bagua, the province of Utcubamba is integrated into important tourist areas such as the Kuelap tourist complex (Chachapoyas), the Leymebamba Museum, sarcophagi of Karajia (Luya) and the Pongo de Rentema (Bagua)



In the Province of Utcubamba there are several areas with great tourist potential, however, it is still necessary to put them in value, as well as to expand and improve the hotel, food and local transport services.
